Ditto on the blog post by Linda Braun, "Technology Breeds Positive Multitasking"! As I read it I wondered which one she went to and which one she accessed via technology. For some reason I thought it would be the other way around, but alas I too would have gone to the one she did and checked in on the other. Still I bet it was hard not to be at both.

The multitasking that technology breeds and supports is often questioned and worried about in the mainstream press and library literature. However, this is a perfect example of the positive impact multitasking can have on information gathering. It's still not possible to be physically in two places at once, however . . ., it is possible to be virtually in more than one place at a time.What a great example! Thank you for sharing that Linda!
Does anyone else have positive similar stories where they have been successful in multitasking by utilizing technology? What about stories where you've been able to multitask like this in student's teaching and learning? I'd love to hear about them.

My example is a bit old - when I was working on my Masters degree, I had 2 summer courses delivered via Blackboard. The instructor had high expectations of everyone writing reviews of readings, actively participating in the online discussions,and I had a huge presentation to prepare. In the middle of the class, I had an opportunity for the world's most relaxing vacation at a friend's home on Lake of the Ozarks and so I took that opportunity - and my laptop. I woke up early each morning and sat on the dock, accessing the wireless network and posting my comments online, while enjoying the beauty & serenity around me - prior to the rest of the vacationers waking up! I would get 2-3 hours of work done before the rest of our group would be coming down for the morning swim or boat outing.
More recently, I recall sitting in Joyce Valenza's fabulous session at AASL this year, excited that I had a wireless connection (it wasn't the case in all of the rooms!) and blogging about the things she presented.
